Valentín Sídorov es un artista con un carácter marcadamente nacional. Su obra se centra en Rusia y está vinculada a ella por profundos hilos. Amplía los límites del tema rural hasta alcanzar una gran resonancia humana. El artista del paisaje espiritualizado creó a lo largo de su larga trayectoria una serie extraordinaria de paisajes, original crónica de la vida en el entorno natural, del ciclo eterno de la naturaleza, sus relaciones primigenias e indisolubles con el hombre.

Painter, teacher. Studied at an art studio of the Moscow Palace of Pioneers (1940–1942), Moscow Secondary School of Art (1943–1948), Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1948–1952) and the Vasily Surikov Institute of Art in Moscow (1952–1954). Contributed to exhibition (from 1951). Taught at the Vasily Surikov Institute of Art in Moscow (from 1996). Professor (1996). People’s Artist of the USSR (1988). Winner of the Ilya Repin State Prize (1974), State Prize of the USSR (1984), State Prize of Russia (1997). Awarded a silver medal of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1972), gold medal of the Academy of Arts of Russia (1996), Order "For Merits for the Fatherland" Grade III (2008) and Grade IV (2003).
