Yury Penushkin, absorbing the traditions of Russian culture, is able to both convey the atmosphere of provincial Russian towns and create heartfelt portraits of Russian nature.
Penushkin, Yury Ivanovich (Born 1935, Leningrad)
Painter. Studied at the Leningrad Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren (1945), Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1946–1953) and the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1953–1962, with interval). Post-graduate student at the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1964– 1967). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1963).
