Annotation

Gavrilov was a member of the generation of painters that determined the character of Soviet visual art in the 1950s and 1960s. Possessing a refined colour sense, this artist of landscapes and compositions evolved the traditions of the school of Russian Realism in his art.

Gavrilov Vladimir

Gavrilov, Vladimir Nikolayevich (1923, Moscow — 1970, Moscow)
Painter, graphic artist. Studied at an Art School in Moscow (finished in 1942) and at the Vasily Surikov School of Art in Moscow (1945–1951). Worked for the Mitrofan Grekov Studio of War Artists (1942–1946). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1944). Taught at the Vasily Surikov School of Art in Moscow (from 1968). Winner of the Ilya Repin State Prize (1971).
