Varichev created landscapes and genre drawings in soothing pastel tones, as a rule. His painting "Spring Day" is replete with dazzling and joyous light and delicate lyricism.
Varichev, Ivan Mikhailovich (Born 1924, Nizhnyaya Loshchikha, Smolensk Gubernia)
Painter. Studied at the Leningrad School of Art (1939–1940, 1947–1950) and the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1951–1957). Worked in the studio of Andrei Mylnikov (1963–1964). Fought in WWII (1942). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1957). Member of the Union of Artists (1960). People’s Artist of Russia (2005).
