In the 1860s, there were several painters who worked with this surname and first initial. The uni queness, however, of the brushwork of Morning in the Village, a work filled with poetry, makes its impossible to attribute this work to one of the famous bearers of this surname. The overall state of serenity and peace expressed in this genre landscape is a rare quality in the works of Russian artists from the mid-19th century, who were prone to emphasising dramatic events as a rule.
