There is no documentation for the birth and death of Grigory Kuchin, who is famous for holding puppet shows for children from the Moscow Orphange, had an unusually keen eye and a unique sense of humour. Depicting a young woman with a fashionable high hairstyle, he cut off the top part of her coiffure, thus showing that it may extend far beyond the edge of the canvas. Such an approach is rarely found in Russian painting.
