The Anna Akhmatova Museum in the Fountain House is located in the centre of Saint-Petersburg, in the southern wing of the Sheremetev Palace.
The museum is known to visitors for its literary and memorial exposition on the life and works of Anna Akhmatova, for exhibitions of classic and modern art, for projects in the garden and literary soirees.
Nowadays the museum’s collection numbers 51,500 depositary items. The most valuable collections are Anna Akhmatova’s library, Josef Brodsky’s library, M.S. Lesman’s collection (rare books and manuscripts of poets of the 20th century), a set of graphical and applied art works owned by L.N. Gumilev and his wife N.V. Gumileva-Simonovskaya, a collection of graphics from a N.S. Nesmelov''''s set (views of Leningrad – Saint-Petersburg of 1930-1960). One more part of the fine and decorative-applied arts collection is made up of lifetime and posthumous images of Anna Akhmatova and her contemporaries. Portrait busts of Anna Akhmatova and Nikolay Punin made by Grigoriy Izrailevitch are part of this section.
