The General Consulate of the Republic of Korea opened on March 22nd, 2006. Its jurisdiction includes the city of Saint Petersburg and 11 subjects of the Russian Federation in the Northwestern Federal District. The Consulate’s work is directed toward expanding and developing cooperation between Korea and the Northwestern Federal District of Russian in various areas.
Petersburg has special significance for Korea, since it is the city were our country’s first diplomatic site in Russian was opened in 1901, and where Li Bom Chzhin, the first Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of Korea led the struggle for independence.
The Northwestern Region of Russia, along with Petersburg, was a transportation and logistical center, linking Europe and Asia, a very important region for our enterprises, which can be represented not only on the markets of Russia and the CIS, but also those of Europe. The number of tourists from our country that come here is also growing.
The consulate is actively working and expanding the connections between Korea and the Northwestern Region of Russia, provides significant support for Korean enterprises attempting to promote themselves on the local market, and does everything in its power to provide Korean citizens with unhindered entry and exit and a safe stay in the region.
