Painted wooden Butterflies are a new collection of the creative association of St Petersburg artists ‘Four Elements’.

The thematic collections of painted wooden Horses, Fish and Birds, Angels and Angels-Clocks made earlier were confined to different events in the cultural life of St Petersburg and represented at the exhibitions in the Ethnographic Museum, the Peter and Paul Fortress,
in the Museum of Water, in the Derzhavin Museum, in the program of the Imperial Gardens of Russia Festival in the Mikhailovsky Garden of the Russian Museum, in Horse Club Derby. Each collection symbolizes one of the elements: Earth, Water and Air whereas Fire is the element
of creativity of free artists.

PAINTING, WOOD, NATURE inspire artists project participants for creation of new collections. The Mikhailovsky Garden is a perfect space for the exhibition and habitation of painted wooden butterflies – representatives of the Air element. Wooden forms of butterflies are handmade according to the designs of L. Zaytseva and painted with tempera, oil, acryl by artists of different directions. The works are distinguished with high artistic level and unique interior items and landscape elements.

The decorativeness and extraordinary colors of these marvellous beings are diverse and amazing constantly as well as inexhaustible imagination and handcraft of the artists. The art warms up our life and occupies the place in it on equal terms with living beings.
