The word «clausura» is taken from academic terminology and means a short project. Open means independent from the formal studying process, the program of an institution of higher education.

Open clausure emerged as a technique of leisure and creative exchange between architecture students of the St Petersburg University of Architecture and Civil Engineering in the end of 1990s. Students from the first to the sixth year could participate in meetings.

Main principles of the Open Clausure:

• An assignment is given to find a new and sharpsighted vision angle on what appears to be long

nown

• Working individually and in team is allowed

• Unconventional techniques are welcome (in any genre, except boring)

• No true and false answers are present

• All works contribute to a collection of creative discoveries

• Game is the most effective way of learning. At any rate, the most interesting.

Objectives of the Open Clausure:

To learn to create with ease and joy, find like-minded people, understand own unique creative skills, obtain teamwork skills, think out of the box, find new methods for search of the image and logic of an object.

For several years clausures were held on an irregular basis. From autumn 2011, Evgeny Bruchas is one of participants/directors of the first clausures amd Petr Berezin resumed

meetings with students at the St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
