Morgunov Alexei

Morgunov, Alexei Alexeevich (1884, Moscow — 1935, Moscow)
Painter, graphic artist. Illegitimate son of artist Alexei Savrasov. Studied at the Stroganov Central School of Art and Industry and in the studios of Sergei Ivanov and Konstantin Korovin in Moscow (mid 1900s). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1904) including the Moscow Fellowship of Artists (1904– 1910), Union of Youth (1910–1914), Knave of Diamonds (1910, 1913, 1914, author of the poster for the first exhibition), World of Art (1911–1912), Donkey’s Tail (1912), Society of Moscow Artists (1929), exhibitions of Russian art in Berlin (1922), New York (1929). In 1909–1910 travelled in Europe (France, Germany, Italy) studying the late 19th-century French painting. Member of IzO Narkompros (1918), professor of painting at the Free Art Studios in Moscow (1918–1920).
