Annotation

The imperial dynasty of the Romanovs made a tremendous mark on the development of the Russian state, as well as the development of science and culture. It is precisely in the rule of the Romanovs that Russia became a mighty world empire. We must not forget that.
For the 400-year anniversary of the rule of the Romanov Dynasty, the Molbert Gallery and the Union of Artists of Saint Petersburg has announced a competition among the young artists of Russia.
This competition is held under the patronage of Her Imperial Highness Maria Vladimirovna, Grand Duchess of Russia.
Informational support for the project is provided by the Committee for Culture of Saint Petersburg, the Russian Academy of Arts, the Karl Bulla Historical Photography Foundation and the Imperial Gardens of Russia International Festival.
The partners of the competition are the International Association of Alumni and Friends of the Russian Academy of Arts and the Nevskaya Palitra paint factory.
The contest will be held from February 20th to July 10th, inclusive. The work of those contestants who have reached the second round will be on display from June 17th to 30th in the Small Hall of the Union of Artists of Saint Petersburg.
At the Imperial Gardens of Russia festival, the Art-Molbert gallery will present a project dedicated to this competition. Young artists from various cities through Russia have created works that reflect their vision of the end of the Time of Troubles, the heroes of the period, images of the Russian Tsars and members of their families.
A series of works by participants in the competition, made on semitransparent canvases, will decorate one of the trees of the Mikhailovsky garden.

A sketch of the project is made by the Petersburg artist Nadezhda Anfalova
